Children in restaurants: problems and opinions
My friend and I decided to sit in one of the network establishments. Her son is six months old and his stroller is his main “vehicle.” The veranda was closed due to rain, they did not want to let us into the restaurant itself. The administrator insisted that “the stroller will not go through the door”, meaning the very specific: “go to another place or sit at home.” Of course, the stroller passed, the question was resolved, but other questions remained.
For example, what problems do parents face in restaurants, what do they lack and what institutions do they prefer to go to? Opinions and comments were collected.
1. Children and “non-child” institutions
We take for the axiom that parents are people too. They want to leave home, eat tasty food and spend time with friends. There are restaurants, the concept of which excludes the presence of children in itself: only very brave mothers go to a night bar with a baby. But ordinary institutions do not always turn out to be child-friendly.
The story about which the portal for parents wrote “No, this is normal” is noteworthy: the guest of “Starbucks” came with her son to the coffee house, where he met another boy. When they began to laugh and walk around the table, a staff member said the following: “Your children can no longer be here. They spoil the atmosphere of the coffee shop. ”
Colors Travel representative, blogger There is no clear distinction between family (children) restaurants and restaurants, where it is better not to go with children. From here scandals arise, as about breastfeeding at a table in a cafe. Foreign children who are breastfeeding annoy many. I want to know where to go with my children, to feel comfortable, without the slanting looks of my neighbors and where to go so that there are definitely no children there.
It is unlikely that such a distinction will appear, but most often the parents have to find out for themselves whether the institution is suitable for the child: is there everything necessary there, whether to wait for an inadequate reaction, or everything will go well. As football commentator and father of three children Fyodor Pogorelov notes in an interview for our site, it is easiest to choose five establishments and go only to them.

In general, I rarely go to catering establishments with children, largely because I don’t like to stop people from relaxing, and in restaurants no segregation of spin-nibs is provided.
Marketing Director at Domino’s Pizza Restaurants are generally not child-friendly. For example, the menu is not balanced and not always useful; furniture can have sharp corners, which are more likely to get injured; no special chairs; missing animation. If the tables are too close, loud sounds, etc. may interfere with other visitors. Unfortunately, today this can be observed in most restaurants. It’s worth going to institutions adapted for children. It is desirable to have a children’s room, a clear menu for the child and comfortable conditions. Of course, in an ideal world, every restaurant should become just like that, since children are part of our life.
Note that if everyone is ready to meet each other, then neither the other guests, nor the baby, nor his parents will suffer.

Of course, when I go with my child and choose where I will drink coffee or have lunch, I will always choose the one with fewer people and if there is zoning in this cafe, I will definitely choose it. This is due to the fact that I understand that my child can cry at any time, and I want to minimize inconvenience to strangers.
2. The lack of changing tables and rooms “mother and child”
The cost of tables is minimal, thanks from mothers and fathers are immense. So the restaurant will gain new customers who will not risk changing their usual place to another. The only thing is that you need to come up with a special room at the design or reconstruction stage of the establishment.

Basic needs when visiting the restaurant: highchair and changing table for changing clothes. And if the stool is almost everywhere, then there is a problem with the table. Even in the McDonald’s, where there were swaddlers, they are not there now. But usually we don’t get lost and, if necessary, change clothes right in the hall, which, of course, may not please the people around us, but we also have no choice. So here we are such impudent parents, but all sorts of coffee houses suffer more from this than directly restaurants and restaurants.

Of course, there is a great lack of changing tables in the toilets. In general, I see a certain paradox in the fact that the cheap McDonald’s eatery is equipped with a toilet for people with disabilities and for visitors with children, and rather expensive coffee houses and restaurants most often do not have such equipment, although the price tag is higher there. Cafe employees are truly admired, who, on their own initiative, offer some options to make the visitor comfortable with the child – for example, they offer to change the child’s clothes in the office, if necessary. It is very nice and touching.
