Do not pay for food in a restaurant … But could it be?

The most understandable and logical – bad, spoiled, tasteless, not like the picture on the food menu. Here you should always pay the attention of the waiter (or rather the manager) to the problem with the dish. It is always very important for a restaurant or cafe to receive feedback from a guest: did you like everything, was it tasty, did you bring food on time, and so on. It only helps to improve the quality of service. For example, a dish was brought to you, and a few minutes later the waiter asked if everything was okay. If the dish seemed too salty, cold or somehow not so, the restaurant can always influence the situation at the time of its occurrence, offering to replace or fix the dish. Therefore, advice – do not hesitate to talk about what you did not like. Only then will the restaurant find out that in fact, something is not working for him.

But if the restaurant did not ask about your impressions or, worse, didn’t react at all to your complaints about the quality of the food, then you should not pay for this dish. No one can force you to pay for a poor-quality or inappropriate dish, the law is on your side. Especially in the era of the Internet, social networks and sites with reviews, not a single normal restaurant will go into conflict, but will try to smooth out the situation.

It happens that you completely ate a dish, and then said that it was tasteless and do not want to pay for it. In this case, it will be more difficult to prove to the restaurant that the dish was of poor quality. Firstly, he is no longer there. Secondly, if not tasty, then why ate everything? Therefore, that you are not satisfied with the quality of the dish, you need to talk right away, as you noticed. Then you can avoid unpleasant moments in clarifying the situation with the restaurant. And it’s even better to immediately call the manager and explain everything to him, as the waiter is not always competent to resolve issues.

And it happens that you came to a restaurant and said that you have half an hour for lunch. If you have been designated that the dish will be ready in 15 minutes, and brought it in 25, then you have the right to refuse the payment, since you physically do not have time to eat it. In institutions with good service you will be informed in advance what dish they will have time to prepare in the allotted time.

It also happens that the ordered dish, such as salad, is not carried for a very long time. You have already eaten hot, drank, or are going to drink coffee with dessert, and then a salad is served. In a normal institution, it will not be included in the bill and will be offered to take with you, once you have already prepared it. Also, you can always refuse a meal and not pay if it has been cooked for a very long time and, as a result, was not delivered on time. For example, they brought hot first, and then soup. Some restaurants in this situation are reluctant to meet, explaining that they spent time, food and have already prepared a high-quality and tasty dish. But still, you have the right to ask to exclude this dish from the check. Of course, the restaurant can call the police, write a statement and wait for something, but obviously not the flow of guests. Restaurants are interested in making you feel good, tasty and comfortable, and that you come as often as possible. Therefore, in good institutions, they will take away the dish from your account and apologize for bringing it late.

It happens that a guest confuses service with service. For example, you accidentally doused with coffee / wine / juice. Unpleasant. But this will not be an excuse not to pay for the order. Coming to a restaurant, you buy food and drinks, not a service. The service is paid in the form of a tip, if you like it. Therefore, if you are accidentally doused, and the restaurant is not ready to compensate for your mistake, then you should not argue about paying the bill, as well as come to this place again. In a good restaurant you will be given a minimum discount or treated to dinner. But it depends solely on the institution and its interest in visiting, in its image and future.

For example, you order a spicy dish, and the waiter warns you that it really will be spicy. If the dish turns out to be so spicy that you cannot eat it, then demanding not to include it in the bill will not be entirely correct. In good restaurants, the waiter will clarify the level of severity, and, if possible, the dish will be redone to less spicy. But this is not the responsibility of the restaurant, but his personal desire to make you satisfied and come again.

Total. In good and proper restaurants or cafes, you will never include dishes that you did not like. The restaurant will not go into conflict and will try to solve the situation so that you are satisfied.

Tip. Go to those restaurants and cafes where you are comfortable. Where you will be deliciously served, well served, will make sure that you are well.
