Where to eat in Copenhagen with any budget
Low-cost cafes of Copenhagen Grød The signature dish of this inexpensive and cozy cafe near the Botanical Garden is … oatmeal! However, this traditional porridge is worth trying. From the menu you can choose oatmeal with caramel sauce, fresh apples or fried almonds and order a cup of excellent coffee. And in the summer – treat yourself to a classic Danish dessert – rødgrød med fløde with berries and cream. There is food in a cafe from 40 to 85 kr.
Ritas Smørrebrød On the same street as the Police Museum (Politimuseet) in Copenhagen there is another cafe where you can eat tasty and inexpensive. Ritas Smørrebrød is, first of all, about 30 varieties of chic smarthrebreds, famous Danish open sandwiches. They are made with fish fillet, chicken, liver paste, bacon and egg – when you look at a window with food, your eyes literally run wide! There are black currants in a cafe cheaply – all for 14 kroons. There is a more “luxurious” menu, in which there are more sandwiches and the filling is more satisfying. In this case, their cost is from 35 to 60 kr.
Halvvejen Of all the places in the center of Copenhagen where you can have a tasty and inexpensive meal with the whole family, Halvvejen Cafe is particularly distinguished by the atmosphere of the classic Danish hygge: cosiness, comfort and serenity. And, of course, prices (from 60 to 100 kr) do their job – a small room is always filled with guests. This is definitely worth a glimpse if you want something more substantial than curryworms. Another significant plus of this inexpensive cafe in Copenhagen is a good draft Danish beer. There is also another alcohol in the drinks menu: wine, cognac, aquavit, liquor and vodka. The average check of visits is 100-130 kr.
Dalle Valle A chain of cafes that is popular in Copenhagen and in Denmark as a whole, where tourists and locals alike love to eat. Its main “trick” is a whole scattering of attractive price surprises for guests. Every day from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. a hungry visitor will find a buffet for only 89 kroons (after 16.00 – 129 kroons). Plus, 4 times a week (Monday, Tuesday, Saturday, Sunday) from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. the prices for all items from the main menu are halved. All products are invariably fresh and natural, the choice of food is huge. Drinks as part of the buffet are paid separately. There is an inexpensive children’s menu with meat and fish dishes for 59 kr.
Madglad A real find for a budget tourist who, while walking around Copenhagen, will leave aside the usual route. A small cafe sells inexpensive, healthy, and tasty takeaway food and does not skimp on portions. However, it is not necessary to go somewhere, you can eat inside. Just be prepared for the fact that you will have to sit in cramped conditions, although not in insult. The concept of the institution is based on the concept of community dinner – food that should be accessible to everyone. The choice of dishes here is really large: both meat and vegetarian. During the day, the cafe offers a generous and cheap buffet – eat as much as you can eat, for only 50 CZK! In the evening, a similar offer applies – for 75 crowns. Definitely recommended for a visit.
