On ordinary days, the Danes on the table – fresh rolls and various bread for sandwiches, butter and cheese, jam from berries, coffee with milk. For children, oatmeal is cooked or a faster option is prepared – corn flakes with milk. Also characteristic of Denmark only is ymerdrys, made from a mixture of rye bread and brown sugar. A morning meal on a weekend or holiday in Denmark is more thorough, because you do not need to rush to work. The most popular dish is a plate with brunch (169 kr). It consists of fried eggs, sausages, bacon, smoked salmon, toasts with avocado, feta cheese, yogurt and granola, waffles with berries, fruits and a bread basket with jam.
Far’s Dreng (Ny Adelgade, 7) Cafe is located in the basement in the center of Copenhagen, close to the main shops and the Parliament building. It opened in 2015 and quickly became famous in the city. In 2017, readers of the popular Danish Internet guide AOK recognized Far’s Dreng as the best brunch cafe in Copenhagen. Here you will find simple, but at the same time creative cuisine, non-trivial serving of dishes and excellent products. Souls (Melchiors Plads, 3) A delicious vegan cafe in eastern Copenhagen, founded by two chefs from Australia. They came up with and brought to life recipes for healthy, natural dishes from local products, mostly gluten-free. Order a morning cup with seasonal berry smoothie with coconut flakes and banana (78 kr) or branded brunch: pancakes with syrup, avocado, boiled oats with cinnamon and chocolate sauce, fresh fruit, pea puree, hummus and vegetarian sticks (134 kr). The drinks menu includes excellent coconut latte with ice (46 kr). All food can be ordered through the cafe website and take away.
Møller Kaffe & Køkken (Noerrebrogade, 160) A low-key Scandinavian cafe on the corner of the busy Nørrebrogade street. Nice place for a cup of coffee and great food. Specialties are creamy burrata with tomatoes and toasted bread (68 kr), airy nutella with hazelnuts and salt (27 kr), fried eggs with corn and tarragon truffles (49 kr). In the drinks menu you will find freshly squeezed juices and herb-mineral water: an essence of herbs mixed with water or local homemade lemonade.
Sidecar (Skyttegade, 5) The Sidecar restaurant concept attracts many guests. Plate with brunch (149 kr) consists of omelet with onions, sausages and crispy bacon, fruit, homemade granola, crepes and hummus, two types of cheese, ham and avocado. By ordering it, you get free access to buffet dishes: fresh salads, open sandwiches, cold cuts of meat and pastries. From the menu you can order hot dishes directly from the kitchen, for example, lush homemade pancakes with mango, yogurt, fresh berries and mint (50 kr).
